Hello - I am new here and posted my introduction, but thought I would also post about my particular concern with 5 yellow and my situation. I am a gua 8 (as is my daughter) and my wife is a 7. Our auspicious directions are SW, W, NW, NE, and NW, NE, SW, and W. We currently sleep in a NW Sector, but it is over a garage and has sloped ceilings which I recently found out is not good. I was thinking of moving us back into our old bedroom, but it is in the SW sector - the 5 yellow for this year. This old bedroom is currently our home office, which until the 5 yellow year has been in a good place.

Should I wait to do this move until next year? How do I offset having our bedroom over a garage and having sloped ceilings (ceilings are too low to do a false ceiling)? What do I need to do in our office to deal with the 5 yellow year?

Also, in the meanwhile, do we keep sleeping over the garage or do we sleep in a guest room that happens to be in the SE sector - my worst and my wife's third worst. I should probably add that the garage is a 3-car garage and the third bay is extra wide. This is where I keep my project car on a drive-on lift and I also have my workshop there. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

may i ask why did you move out from that bedroom and now that you are in the NW room, did you feel better or indifferent?

5 Yellow is surely not a good star you want to meet. now that is your home office it will surely bring you obstacle beginning from Feb4 2010.

importantly do not nail or make too much shifting of heavy objects this year in your office. It will help if you have 5 element pagoda in your office.

We moved initially to achieve better sleeping directions and to have more space. The NW room is upstairs (the only room upstairs) and the rest are downstairs. This was about 4-5 years ago and we loved the change - it felt very good. We have been under a great deal of stress lately and my sleep has not been good for about 6 months or so. Recent bad dreams got me going back over my Feng Shui books where I saw the comments about being over empty space like a garage not being good. So I thought about the move. Is there anything I can do to offset being over empty space so I can stay in the NW room?

With 5 yellow, does that make the SW room altogether useless for a year? I have ordered a 5 element pagoda. Do I need to stop working from this room completely? The other rooms on the first floor are in the East sectors which are not auspicious for us. There is space in the NW upstairs to work from there, but I don't want to move my heavy desk and things up there. Perhaps I can set up a small desk up there to work from.

Of course all of this assumes I have overlayed the compass point on my floor plan properly.

One more thing. My clothes closet is in the back corner of the SW room. Does this have any impact by simply wearing clothes from that area?

Another follow up question, please. My wife and I have decided that for this year, we can do our work upstairs in the NW room. This is a very large space - about 800 square feet - in one room. We can set up our home office in one corner and sleep in another as long as it is ok to sleep over the garage. Is it OK to work and sleep in the same general space?

The only other thing I can think of is a bedroom in the SE sector to sleep in.

I am going to try to attach my floorplan. If this works, the upstairs layout is shown in the dashed green lines. You can see there is a bathroom up there as well as space for a bed area, working area, meditation (in the alcove areas) and a living area (near the door). The space in front of it upstairs is an open balcony area.

Your input is most graciously appreciated.

5 element pagoda will surely help but still the effect of 5 yellow is there but will not render it totally unusable. there are many other factors that affects the strength of 5yellow and it really not possible to DIY over this forum.

No, wearing clothes from SW won't bring you bad effects.

As to sleeping above the garage, i don't see that as a big problem.

One last thing is that you could try swap by working in NW.& sleeping in SW is ok too, just remember the earlier advice.

Feng Shui is multi dimensional and no short cut.

Something is still not right. We don't know what to do. So much of the house just feels uncomfortable. The room in SW (labeled "Master Suite") feels dead and unwelcoming now. It feels like we just abondoned the space. Maybe we should meditate in there and do our yoga and tai chi to promote positive energy. I was very careful not to be too disturbing and only moved the computer and a couple of desk chairs upstairs. Our room upstairs (NW) now feels less comfortable - we think it might be the plants I placed between the work space and the sleep space as a boundary. I have ordered the 5 element pagoda, a pair of Pi yao, and the 3 Qi Lin.

NOTE: uptairs (NW) my wife just moved the plants placed in the middle of the floor back to the walls and she is telling me the energy is much better and she is feeling good about the upstairs room again. We have placed a fountain up there and have now angled it towards the living and sleeping space. She also wanted me to mention that right below our bed is my workshop part of the garage, which always has a project car, a TV, an air conditioner, a tool shop, etc. In other words, that space is always full and not empty. Could that be ok for under the bed?

Our kitchen, which is where we spend the most time is in the NE and the N. Will the 3 Qi Lin and the pi yao make that space better for us to spend time in? We love our kitchen and we normally spend a great deal of time in it.

I am eager for more guidance and I thank all of you in advance.

I think you are overly worried.

Let me suggest the following remedies:-

1. You can (but not advisable to) do yoga/meditation in the SW. Put some plants to promote yang chi.
2. Remove the plants in NW.
3. No problem in sleeping above the garage/workshop. Make sure that all electrical items are switched off at night.
4. Qi Lin and Pi Yao won't help much.
5. Flying stars have to be considered.
