Hi to the master out there,
I feel so glad to found this website which I can post my feng shui questions. Appreciate if we can get some professional advice from the master out there.
My husband and I have just bought a house facing south. I came across some of the feng shui tips and has the following questions:
1. My husband and I are belong to different group. Myself belong to west group (Kua 8) and my husband belong to East group (Kua 9). Anything we should take note? I learned that the house facing south is more suitable to for people belong to east group.
2. Myself is belong to water element while husband is belong to wood element. Complement element for water is metal but metal element crash with wood element. How to resolve this?
3. What is the suggested house color theme for our case.
4. What type of feng shui painting should we use and which part of the house should we put the painting? Water element: Koi Fish? Metal: Buddha face?
Thank you very much.

Well i wont want to call it professional advice cos when it is professional you have to pay! :)
1.Yes the house it self is more favourable to East people but this is just too simplisitic way of deciding. There are other important factors that you may have to consider. You may find a house facing South but can be favourable to a West group people. But the real skills of feng shui is to find the harmony among the house and people regardless if they are east or west group. my advice is no worries.
2.Your description of how elements works is correct but not in application. It doesnt work like this so no need to worry.
3. Color scheme is not a big problem when you talk about 8 mansion feng shui which is what you have been describing so far. it is indeed difficult to suggest since you need to know what Qi is in the house. again, no worries.
4. from the classical feng shui point of view, it is ok about the painting because a painting of koi fish doesnt emit any qi nor alter qi in the house. so hang where you like it to be and have no worries.
Get a feng shui consultant if you are really worried.
Classical feng shui study is very different from other new age feng shui. Some new age feng shui is very much culturally influenced.
Classical feng shui has the consistency over time which is very important if you want it to be considered as having good feng shui. Don't you agree?

1. South facing indeed favours the east group persons.
2. A detailed analysis of bazi is required.
3. Any colours so long as you are comfortable.
4. Paintings/objects are not part of classical feng shui. Does not enhance the chi of the house. Forms/shapes/personal & house gua & flying stars take precedence.

Qi_Mgmt, thank you so much for your advice. Now I come about classical feng shui and cultural feng shui.. err. . .By the way, how to differentiate classical and cultural?
The seller is upgrading to a new double storey link corner in the same area and the couple seems to be doing very well. Curiosity causes me to study the house feng shui ..
Let me explain a little about the house: - Sitting at north and facing south - There is houses facing the house, standard double storey link (Intermediate) - The house in 8 mansions formula: 1) South East/Sheng Qi • There is a garden with small pond • Ground Floor : The living hall • 2nd Floor : Master room 2) South West/Jie Ming • Ground Floor : Car porch • 2nd Floor: Master room toilet 3) South/Yan Nian: • Share the garden and car porch (cover part of master room) 4) East/Tian Yi • Ground Floor : Part of living hall and dry kitchen with dining hall • 2nd floor: 2nd bedroom and small living hall (We are intended to change the living hall to study area) 5) West/Huo Hai • Ground floor: Staircase area, storeroom, maid room • 2nd floor: Staircase area, toilet 6) North East/Wu Gui • Ground floor: Wet kitchen (Stove, basin etc) • 2nd floor: 3rd bedroom 7) North West/Liu Sha • Ground floor: Washing machine + Laundry area and toilet • 2nd floor: Toilet 8) North/Huo Wei • Backdoor and empty space I am so sorry that I do not have the floor plan of the house to give better illustration. By applying the formula, this house seems to be well strusture under the 8 mansion. Appreciate if anyone can give us the tips on house deco to maintain the pro and subside the con. Thank you in advance.

Classical Feng Shui is based on the fundamentals of finding good qi spot and bring it to the tenants so they will benefit from it. With good Qi tenants can be healthier, make more and life will be smoother. It all depends on how the Qi is available and tapped. Then feng shui masters use good date selection to integrate all factors together to give you good effects.
Cultural is something we believe in but doesn't influence Qi. E.g Painting of 9 Koi Fish. Does it emit Qi? Does it Modify Qi? if it's influence is so great then why does Feng shui masters put so much emphasis when finding a good location for house or grave. Just built it anywhere. We believe in it probably because the word Fish sounds in chinese language "have extra" (translated) or because 9 means long lasting or 9 is emperor's number.
On 8 Mansion: You got all the names correct for 8 Mansion for a South House but for application is not quite done that way. That way only gives you a small part of the picture.
Finally, you left out 1 very important feature of the house which also tells if this house is good or bad for East people and not enough by just looking at the direction South.
I suggest you find a master/consultant to do it and safe all the heartache of DIY. Later when you felt something is wrong what are you going to do? Renovate or buy a new house? Isn't that a big hassle?
Before i forget, if the house is favourable to the previous tenant it may not necessarily means is it will be good for you. There are a couple of factors that will determine that.

Thank you Qi_mgmt,
What do you mean by one important feature of the house to determine if it is good for East people?
Do you know any reliable feng shui master in Klang Valley, Malaysia?

The main door is facing south and it is at the southeast section of the house. Right infront of the main door there is the garden. . Can I have Master Tan full name? Thank you.
